Marta Sofia Honer

Marta is an active musician that has performed across the United States, Quebec, Spain, and Portugal. Working in both classical and contemporary fields, Marta has performed and recorded with variety of groups including Kesha, Deltron3030, Kamasi Washington, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Portugal. The Man, Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, and more.  As an avid chamber musician Marta is founding member of Quartet Datura, of which she has both performed in and composed for.

Located in Los Angeles, Marta freelances as a violin and viola teacher and performer. Recent events include performing at Coachella with Peking Duk, recording at the sound stages of Warner Brothers, the Bridge, and Eastwest Studios, and playing at various venues including the Hollywood Bowl, Staples Center, Dolby and Microsoft Theaters, the Getty Museum, and REDCAT.

 Born and raised in Madison, WI, Marta left her hometown early to finish high school at the acclaimed Interlochen Arts Academy where she studied both violin and viola. Graduating with a focus on viola, she moved to Chicago to receive a B.M. from DePaul University, studying under Rami Solomonow (Lyric Opera) and various Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians.

An avid teacher as well as a performer, Marta has enhanced her pedagogy training by taking Suzuki Method coursework at the American Suzuki Institute, DePaul Community Music Division and with teachers at the Colburn School. She currently is a teaching artist for the Harmony Project.
